Cockington Primary School

Well done to the children who received a certificate last week. These awards are given to pupils in recognition of the Cockington Primary School superhero values.

Year 6 didn't let the weather dampen their spirits last week! The children spent time studying and sketching the amazing array of plants and flowers at Torre Abbey.

Eggbuckland Vale Primary School

Foundation Stage have had an amazing first week at Eggbuckland Vale Primary, settling into their new routines quickly and confidently. The staff have enjoyed watching the friendships made, collaborative play, sharing and taking turns.

Year 3 have been studying artist Andy Goldsworthy. The children have impressed staff with their observational drawings of pine cones, conkers and leaves.

Leigham Primary School

At the start at term, Leigham Primary suffered significant water damage from a burst pipe, resulting in the site being closed to all pupils. School staff worked quickly to stop the spread of water and begin the drying out process. Some of the furniture and resources were unaffected, and they were able to reopen parts of the school and provide temporary teaching spaces to get the children back to learning as soon as possible (pictured). A very big thank you to the staff at Leigham for working so tirelessly on the clean-up operation.

Year 1 have had a fantastic start to the year. They have been impressing staff with their phonic knowledge and showing all that they have learnt within the continuous provision. The children have dived straight into their phonics sessions and are looking forward to starting the Beat Your Score challenge next week!

Widey Court Primary School

Hello and welcome to all of the new EYFS children starting at the school this term. They have had a great start to Foundation Stage and are settling in well. The children have been developing confidence with learning through play, and making lots of new friends. Thank you to the Widey Court PTFA for supplying each child with a teddy bear as a welcome gift.

Widey Court Primary were delighted to receive a letter from King Charles, in recognition of the gifts sent to the King in celebration of his Coronation. The letter thanked them for all the well-wishes, for the school aerial photo jigsaw puzzle, and, for a wonderful story written and illustrated by Eva in Year 5. The story was all about the adventures of Beth and Bluebell, two Jack Russell dogs rescued by King Charles and Queen Camilla from Battersea Dogs Home.
