Governance Update

In October, we will be saying a fond farewell to Christian Jenkins (pictured centre), our Chair of Trustees. We thank Christian for his dedication and hard work in supporting the Trust since 2018. He leaves with our very best wishes in enjoying a well-earned retirement.

Cockington Primary School

The Performing Arts Club recently showcased their talents during their production of 'Dreams'. They had worked so hard in rehearsals and showed some wonderful commitment. The performance was brilliant, demonstrating our Collaborative Carmen school values by supporting and celebrating each other. Every single member of the club is a complete superstar, and you did the school proud!

Eggbuckland Vale Primary School

The DEC (Deaf Education Centre) recently had a special visitor, Paul Whittaker OBE. He has a music degree and was awarded an OBE for services to music. He was born deaf and didn't learn to sign until he was 10 years old. We teach all our children in the DEC, and those who want to across the school, to sign. All our staff in the DEC can sign BSL, and many teachers and staff across the school can too! This afternoon Paul gave an inspiring workshop to our deaf children, taught them new signing songs and spoke to them about his life and struggles as a deaf person growing up. Our deaf children don't get to meet many deaf adults, but we hit gold with Paul. All our deaf children were enthralled with him and loved having such a positive role model in school. One child even went back to her classroom and told the whole class "It doesn't matter that my ears don't work, I can be anything I want to be". This is one of our key values - being aspirational. He has promised to come back and see us again when he visits Plymouth in November to sign/interpret Jesus Christ Superstar at the Theatre Royal.

Year 2 have been identifying cities and rivers in South West England and the Nile Delta as part of the geography curriculum. The children worked incredibly well in pairs, using maps to locate the cities and rivers. They did a fantastic job of labelling their own maps.

Leigham Primary School

Year 6 have had a fantastic time bell boating yesterday and today. It has been a great opportunity to work together as a team whilst trying out something completely new. Everyone had smiles on their faces throughout and were definitely feeling tired after their adventures around Oreston Quay.

We are so proud of our Year 5/6 Girls’ Football Team who are runners up in the Plymouth Cup! They have represented the school fantastically over the past few years and have finished with two truly magnificent performances in the semi-final and final. After winning 4-0 in the semi-final, the children faced a quality Bickleigh team in the final. They kept up their quality football throughout and kept persevering until the final whistle. They also produced the biggest three cheers of the day to celebrate their counterparts’ win - another show of great sportsmanship from our girls!

Widey Court Primary School

Year 4 have enjoyed a fun-packed stay at PGL Barton Hall for their residential trip. The children took part in exciting activities such as paddle boarding, rifle shooting, archery, and swimming. A fabulous time was had by all!

Members of the KS2 Choir walked to Manadon Vale Primary School to take part in ‘The Big Sing’ with The Legacy Choir. An amazing opportunity and enjoyed by all the children! Thank you, Mrs Irvine, for organising this event.
