Connect Academy Trust

A huge well done to Sarah Goodman, Finance Officer within our Shared Services Team, who flew to the States at the weekend to take part in the Chicago Marathon. She completed the course in an impressive time of 5:18:55!

Cockington Primary School

Pupils in Year 3 have been working on their creative writing, with stories based on Beasties. The children have planned, structured, and proofread their stories and are now busy producing their final versions. Staff have been so impressed with their beautiful presentation and imaginative ideas.

As part of Connect Academy Trust’s innovative ocean conservation curriculum, Year 6 enjoyed a morning joining in with the National Marine Aquarium’s annual STEMFest virtual event. The children completed ecological surveys, scientific drawings, and had the opportunity to evolve their very own sea creature, with all activities inspired by the work of the amazing Darwin 200 expedition. You can find out more about the virtual event by visiting the Ocean Conservation Trust website.

Eggbuckland Vale Primary School

The school is proud to be taking part in the Plymouth City Council Poppy Wave, with the members of the MKC Heroes club busy creating their very own poppies for Remembrance Day. Please click here to find out more about the school's fantastic MKC Heroes (Military Kids Club), which is open to pupils of the Armed Forces community.

The local St Edwards Church welcomed some of the pupils and their families to enjoy a wonderful Harvest celebration. Thank you for all the generous donations that will be gratefully received by a local food bank.

Leigham Primary School

Last week, pupils from Years 3/4 visited Tor Bridge High School to represent Leigham in a Panathlon challenge. The children took part in various events including curling, basketball and bowling, coming away with a bronze medal for their efforts! Well done to the eight children who attended the event for their inspirational teamwork and resilience.

As mentioned in a previous blog, Leigham Primary School have recently suffered significant water damage from a burst pipe. One of their pupils, Monroe, wanted to help after hearing that some of the books had been damaged, by donating a large box of her own books to the school library. A very big thank you to Monroe and her family for their kindness. She is a fantastic role model for us all!

Widey Court Primary School

Pupils across the school have recently been celebrating European Languages Day, learning phrases, studying maps and cultures, and even sampling foreign cuisine. The children look like they certainly enjoyed the pizza tasting as part of their research on Italy!

At the end of September, parents/carers of new pupils in the Early Years Foundation Stage enjoyed a Stay & Play session, organised by the amazing Widey Court PTFA volunteers and school staff. The children had a fabulous time playing on inflatables, blowing bubbles, and crafting with glitter, and were also treated to a special visit from Princess Ariel! This was a great opportunity for families to get to know each other and see the blossoming friendships between the children.
